On Saturday evening, Letaru Mercy Jovia, a 24-year-old from Moyo District, was crowned Miss Tourism West Nile during a colorful event held at Leisure Park in Adjumani District.
The pageant was part of the ongoing regional Miss Tourism search across Uganda, which will culminate in the national grand finale on September 5, 2025, at the Kampala Serena Hotel.
Letaru triumphed over several other contestants to clinch the title. Endredru Stacy Tanyi, also 24 and from Moyo District, was named the 1st runner-up, while Lekuru Eron, 20, from Arua District, took the position of 2nd runner-up.
The event featured a cultural runway showcasing traditional outfits and a question-and-answer segment. Contestants were tested on their knowledge of domestic tourism and how they would promote Uganda as a prime international travel destination.
The winner of the national competition will be crowned Miss Tourism Uganda 2025/26, taking over from the reigning queen, Atino Lucky Bianca.
Chief Guest Hajjat Medina Naham Ojale, the Director for Administration and Finance at the National Resistance Movement, commended the Miss Tourism West Nile initiative for mentoring young women and providing them with opportunities to grow and thrive. She urged the community to support the pageant and pledged her full support to the regional queens as they prepare for the national competition.
