RDC Nyakahuma Warns Parish Chiefs Over Mismanagement of PDM Funds in Kabale

By Innocent Ruhangariyo

Kabale – Godfrey Nyakahuma, the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) for Kabale, has issued a stern warning to Parish Chiefs across Maziba Sub-county, Ndorwa East, over alleged misconduct by Parish Development Model (PDM) SACCO committee members during his four-day monitoring tour.

The RDC’s warning follows disturbing reports that some SACCO committee members have been demanding bribes ranging from 100,000 to 200,000 shillings from intended beneficiaries in order to include them on the list to receive PDM funds.

Nyakahuma called on Parish Chiefs to exercise vigilance and authority in supervising the distribution of PDM funds, emphasizing that such extortionist practices undermine the purpose and progress of the program. “We cannot allow a few individuals to frustrate a government initiative designed to uplift our communities,” he stated.

He further instructed the Parish Chiefs to take immediate action against any SACCO committee members found engaging in such malpractices. “Start arresting or chasing away any member soliciting money from beneficiaries. This is the only way we can preserve the integrity of the Parish Development Model,” Nyakahuma emphasized.

The Parish Development Model (PDM) is a flagship presidential initiative aimed at transforming Uganda’s economy by transitioning households from subsistence farming to a market-oriented, money-based economy.

The success of the program, Nyakahuma stressed, hinges on transparency and discipline among implementers at the grassroots level.
