Kabale District Local Leaders Commend President Museveni and Minister Bahati for Peaceful Local Council Elections

KABALE -Kabale District Local leaders have expressed their gratitude to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and Minister David Bahati, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) district chairman, for their instrumental role in ensuring peaceful local council elections held yesterday Tuesday 06.05.2025 which were conducted across Ndorwa West constituency and Kabale district as well.

Local leaders, including Champion Edward Burnett LCIII Chairman Butanda sub-county, Nelson Atukwase of Rubaya sub-county, Can Enock Kazooba mayor Ryakarimira Town Council, Elvis Nzeirwe of Katuna Town Council Elias Twesigomwe of Kamungaguzi sub-county and David Muhereza of Kitumba sub-county, praised the leadership and guidance provided by President Museveni and Minister Bahati during the electoral process noting that the duo’s efforts in sensitizing the public through social media platforms and radio talk shows played a significant role in fostering peace and unity among voters adding that messages shared by the president and Minister Bahati emphasized the importance of conducting ourselves peacefully during the elections.

Leaders added that consistent communication helped them to understand the value of maintaining harmony, even in competitive situations, stating that the sensitization campaigns created awareness and encouraged responsible participation highlighting that the peaceful nature of the elections was a testament to the effectiveness of the NRM’s approach to grassroots mobilization and civic education commending the party’s commitment to promoting democratic values and ensuring that every member had an opportunity to participate in a fair and transparent process.

Minister Bahati, who is also the state minister for Trade, Industry and cooperatives (Industry) and the Ndorwa County West legislator has been actively involved in strengthening the NRM’s presence in Kabale district, was lauded for his hands-on approach in engaging with local communities, alongside those of President Museveni, were credited with fostering unity and collaboration among party members, paving the way for a smooth electoral exercise in 2026 expressing the optimism that the newly elected local council representatives would work diligently to address community needs and contribute to the development of their communities and the country as well.
