RUKIGA -Youth in Muhanga Town Council, Rukiga District, have lauded a youth empowerment project spearheaded by Woman MP aspirant Dr. Sylvia Arineitwe, describing it as a life-changing initiative that has elevated their livelihoods and fostered a renewed sense of purpose.
During an engagement on May 21, 2025, several beneficiaries shared powerful testimonies with Our Publication, highlighting the tangible impact of the project.
Elius Akandinda, Justus Niwahereza, and Doroth Ayebazibwe were among those who attributed their ability to start small businesses, invest in agriculture, and pay school fees to the support received through the initiative.
They praised Dr. Sylvia for being the first leader to genuinely prioritize youth development in the area.
Project coordinator Josephant Mubanjizi applauded Dr. Sylvia’s vision and dedication, noting that the program has successfully steered young people away from crime and idleness.
According to Mubanjizi, the initiative has not only improved household incomes but also instilled discipline and responsibility among the youth.
Rukiga District Assistant Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Gibs Barigayomwe, called on the youth to put the support to good use and ensure long-term sustainability of the benefits.
He commended Dr. Sylvia for her continued commitment to the transformation of Rukiga District through impactful community-based projects.
The youth empowerment program continues to gain recognition as a model initiative for addressing unemployment and promoting socio-economic development in the region.
