KIGEZI-The Senior Presidential Advisor for Agriculture and Common People, Peace Rugambwa, has directed the office of the Kabale Resident District Commissioner (RDC) to intervene in the ongoing disputes affecting traders in the Kabale Central Market.
The directive was issued today during a meeting of NRM flag bearers, RDCs, and District Internal Security Officers (DISOs) from the Kigezi Sub-region, held at Cephas Inn, Kabale.
The meeting aimed at mobilizing support for President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the NRM presidential flag bearer, ahead of next year’s elections.
Rugambwa expressed concern over the delayed commissioning of the Kabale Central Market, which she said was constructed to uplift the livelihoods of ordinary citizens. She noted that the major challenge revolves around stall allocation disputes between old and new vendors.
She further accused some local leaders of allegedly allocating stalls to themselves, leaving genuine traders and common people stranded.
Rugambwa also urged residents to vote for President Museveni and all NRM flag bearers, while encouraging citizens to form and join cooperatives as a means to boost their household incomes and community development.
