KABALE -Byamungu Michael Turyamureba Rwasabutare has officially been nominated as the National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag bearer for the 2026–2031 parliamentary race in Kabale Municipality.
In a spirited address to members of the press, local citizens, and the wider public, Byamungu pledged to usher in a new era of unity, ideological leadership, and socio-economic transformation.”My mission is clear to lead Kabale Municipality towards inclusive development, not division,” said Byamungu, emphasizing his vision built on three core pillars.
1. Ending Identity Politics**Byamungu criticized the long-standing politics of identity and sectarianism that have dominated Kabale’s political landscape for over 15 years. “These politics have not only divided our people but also stifled progress. It’s time to replace identity with ideology and to build leadership that prioritizes service over self,” he stated.
2. Working in Harmony with the Ruling Government**As Kabale remains a known NRM stronghold, Byamungu expressed concern over past opposition leadership that he claims has failed to support or implement key government development programs such as the Parish Development Model (PDM), Emyooga, and the Youth Livelihood Fund.
“This lack of cooperation has kept our youth unemployed and our people in poverty,” he said. “We must align Kabale’s leadership with the NRM government to ensure that development initiatives fully reach and benefit our citizens.”
3. Driving Socio-Economic Transformation**Byamungu promised to make job creation, youth empowerment, infrastructure development, and education reform his key focus areas.
He pledged to work with government agencies, private investors, and civil society to create sustainable opportunities for all residents of Kabale Municipality.
As the 2026 election approaches, Byamungu’s nomination marks a turning point in Kabale’s political journey.
