CSOs Urged to Build Local Training and Support Networks to Tackle Digital Threats

Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) have been asked to build strong awareness and support networks by providing continuous local training, sharing digital safety resources, and creating peer-support systems for rapid response.

Ms. Freda Nalumansi a Research and Advocacy Lead at the UNWANTED WITNESS organization, emphasizes the importance of developing and sharing accessible digital safety resources and guidelines.

She also highlights the need to establish peer-support networks and rapid response teams to provide assistance during digital threats, attacks, or security breaches.

“We are able to establish that as a result of these unchecked threats that come inform of general surveillance and also infiltration using different spyware technology, have tended to create fear, self-censorship amongst human rights defenders and some have actually withdrawn others have been forced out of their respective countries, finding themselves in exile as a result of these threats, “ Ms. Nalumansi explained.
