Buganda has announced that the 2025 Masaza Cup final will be staged at the newly renovated Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo, on 1st November 2025.
Robert Serwanga, the Kingdom’s Sports minister said the Kingdom is excited to bring the prestigious tournament to the historic venue after years of hosting the finals elsewhere.
“This year’s Masaza Cup final will be played at Nakivubo Stadium,” Serwanga announced, noting that the modern facility offers the perfect stage for the climax of the Kingdom’s most celebrated football competition.
The 2024 final, between Buddu and Kyaggwe was held at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole. In previous years, the competition’s climax had traditionally been hosted at Mutesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku.
“Since Mandela National Stadium will be under construction during the time of our final, this year’s MasazaCup Finals will be played at Hamz Stadium Nakivubo on 1st November 2025,” Minister of Sports Robert Sserwanga.
The minister said the move to Nakivubo is significant, given the stadium’s storied past and its recent transformation.
Back in the days, Masaza Cup finals were played at Wankulukuku. But this year, the lucky two teams that will reach the 2025 finals will grace the newly renovated Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo.
The Masaza Cup, one of Buganda’s biggest football competitions, draws teams representing the Kingdom’s counties and has grown into a major sporting and cultural event, attracting massive crowds every year.
