Kabale, Uganda – May 12, 2025-Counsel Dan Nabaasa, the Kabale Municipality Member of Parliament hopeful, has called on mothers to take a leading role in shaping their children by instilling morals and values that contribute to community development and social progress.
While officiating as the Chief Guest, he made the call during the Mother’s Day celebrations held at St. Andrews Nyabikoni Church of Uganda Parish in the Central Division of Kabale Municipality.
Counsel Nabaasa contributed UGX 3 million towards the ongoing construction and expansion of St. Andrews Nyabikoni Church of Uganda Parish.
His message was delivered by Canon Grace Tindikahwa, who represented him at the event.
In his remarks, Nabaasa emphasized the critical role mothers play in building a morally upright society, noting that the moral upbringing of children directly impacts the economic and social fabric of communities.
“We are living in a generation that is heavily influenced by modern trends, but it is still the responsibility of parents—especially mothers—to guide their children and instill values that promote respect, discipline, and hard work,” he said.
He encouraged mothers to take time to engage with their children and nurture them with both spiritual and ethical guidance to ensure that future generations contribute meaningfully to society.
He pointed out that while fathers are stepping back, the burden of parenting has largely been left to mothers, who must now take a more proactive role in shaping their children’s future and instilling values critical for social and economic development.
“Many men today have abandoned their roles as responsible parents, but that should not stop the progress of our families and communities,” Nabaasa stated.
“Mothers must take the initiative to guide their children with strong morals and values for a brighter future”.
He emphasized that in an era of modernization and shifting societal norms, children need stable, value-driven upbringing more than ever before.
He called on mothers to nurture their children with love, discipline, and integrity to build a responsible and productive generation.
