Kabale Women Urged to Boost Household Incomes, Embrace Modern Farming for Community Growth

Kabale, Uganda-Women in Kabale Municipality have been encouraged to actively engage in community development programs and adopt income-generating activities to improve their livelihoods and contribute to sustainable development.

The call was made by Turyamureba Michael Byamungu commonly known as Rwasabutare, a parliamentary hopeful for Kabale Municipality, during an engagement with women entrepreneurs at Christ the King Catholic Church in Kabale Municipality.

The meeting brought together local women involved in agriculture and small businesses, focusing on the promotion of modern farming practices and awareness of government-backed programs aimed at enhancing food security.

Byamungu stressed the critical role women play in the socio-economic transformation of their communities, emphasizing the need for continuous sensitization through meetings and seminars to transform mindsets.

“Our goal through these engagements,” he said, “is to encourage the adoption of modern farming techniques, boost household incomes, empower women, and strengthen community development among many other benefits.”

He urged women to take full advantage of government programs tailored to improve livelihoods, such as the Parish Development Model (PDM), and to become active stakeholders in shaping the future of their communities.

Byamungu concluded with optimism, expressing hope that these collective efforts would translate into lasting, meaningful change across Kabale Municipality, especially through the empowerment of women at the grassroots level.
