The police in Kasese District have arrested a 65-year-old man for allegedly murdering his wife.
The deceased has been identified as Masika Night Kihimba, 48, the wife of the suspect, Kyakwaire Sipiriano. Both were residents of Kakone I Village, Bwera Sub-county, in Kasese District.
According to reports, on March 17, 2025, at approximately 1:30 PM, Masika Night Kihimba visited her relatives in Mughnese Cell, Nsenyi Ward, Kisinga Town Council.
Upon returning home, she found her husband inside their matrimonial house. She then began packing her belongings, seemingly preparing to leave.
Realizing that his wife was ready to leave, the suspect allegedly became enraged, locked all the exit doors, and took a sharp knife, stabbing her in the stomach. The attack resulted in her immediate death.
SP Nelson Tumushime, the Kasese Police spokesperson, confirmed that upon being notified, police swiftly responded, arrested the suspect, and cordoned off the crime scene.
“We have initiated investigations into the matter to determine the motive behind the murder” SP Tumushiime revealed
SP Tumushime urged the public to resolve domestic conflicts amicably without resorting to violence, emphasizing the importance of peaceful conflict resolution.
