KABALE-The State Minister for Trade, Industry, and Cooperatives (Industry) and Ndorwa West Member of Parliament, Hon. David Bahati, has lauded the efforts of Compassion International Uganda in empowering the younger generation through holistic development programs.
Speaking during the thanksgiving services of compassion international Uganda’ for both St Peter’s cathedral Rugarama in Kabale municipality and St. Stevens Mwiisi Church of Uganda Parish in Kitumba Sub-county, Minister Bahati praised the organization for its unwavering commitment to improving the lives of children and youth across the country.
The Thanksgiving event was organized to celebrate the impact of Compassion International Uganda and to raise support for their ongoing initiatives, including the establishment of a skilling center aimed at equipping young people with practical skills like training in tailoring, salon management, computer literacy, bakery, basket weaving, and other vocational skills but also Additionally, plans are underway to tile the resource center at St Mwiisi Child Development Center to enhance its functionality and appeal.
In his address, Minister Bahati highlighted the critical role played by Compassion International Uganda in addressing the basic needs of vulnerable children, nurturing their spiritual growth, and enabling them to realize their God-given potential staying Compassion International Uganda is doing remarkable work in helping children access essential services, know God, and make Him known in their communities where their efforts are shaping these young individuals into self-reliant, responsible, and mature Christian adults,” he said.
As a gesture of support for the initiative, Minister Bahati contributed 3 million Ugandan shillings to each Child Development Center (CDC) towards the skilling center project and encouraged other stakeholders, including community members and leaders, to join hands in supporting such transformative programs that empower the youth and foster sustainable development whereby, skilling center is expected to play a pivotal role in addressing unemployment among the youth by equipping them with marketable skills that can enable them to start their own businesses or secure meaningful employment, focusing on both spiritual and practical development.
Minister Bahati further reaffirmed the government’s commitment to working citizens of Uganda where some organizations like Compassion International Uganda has announced to pull out it’s interests to continue operating in Uganda on unclear issues announcing government plans to continue supporting young generation in various ways.
