Kabale-The National Director for Mobilisation, Cadre Identification, Recruitment and Placement in the National Resistance Movement (NRM), Dr. Rosemary Nansubuga Senide, has cautioned independent candidates who took part in the party primaries against going against NRM principles.
Seninde issued the warning during the Kigezi regional mobilisation meeting held today at Agaba Centre in Kigongi, Kabale Municipality.
The meeting brought together NRM flag bearers and District Executive Committee members from the six districts of Kigezi, as part of efforts to rally support ahead of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s campaign tour in the region next week.
President Museveni is expected to campaign in Kisoro and Rubanda districts on Monday, 24th November, followed by Rukiga and Kabale on Tuesday.
He will conclude his visit in Kanungu and Rukungiri on Wednesday, 26th November 2025, ahead of the 2026 general elections, scheduled for 15th January 2026.
Seninde noted that the recently concluded NRM primary elections conducted using the lining-up method were transparent. While acknowledging that no election is perfect, she said the primaries were largely free and fair.
She further urged NRM flag bearers to remain committed to the party and avoid supporting independent candidates, emphasizing the need to safeguard the party’s internal cohesion and discipline.
Meanwhile, the NRM Vice Chairperson for Western Uganda, Jonard Asiimwe, encouraged District Executive Committee members to intensify mobilisation efforts for President Museveni’s candidature in the upcoming 2026 elections.
The regional mobilisation meeting marks a key step in galvanizing grassroots support as the ruling party prepares for the official campaign season.
