KABALE -The Senior Presidential Advisor for Agriculture and Common People, Peace Rugambwa, has advised ghetto youth and sex workers in Kabale District to form cooperatives if they are to benefit from government programs.

Rugambwa made the call today while meeting ghetto youth and sex workers at Kabale Municipal Stadium in the Central Division of Kabale Municipality.

She noted that ghetto youth and sex workers have long been perceived negatively as people without meaningful employment, yet many are driven into such lifestyles by a lack of support and economic opportunities.

She encouraged them to form Savings and Credit Cooperative Organizations (SACCOs) to unite and empower themselves through savings and loan schemes that can help them start businesses and become self-reliant.

The Kabale District NRM Ghetto President, Musa Asiimwe, said that ghetto youth in Kabale have already formed an organization with a savings and credit section, which has enabled them to save and start small businesses.

He appreciated the growing cooperation among youth and revealed that the Kabale Ghetto Association has officially registered a SACCO to help members access financial support.

The Kabale NRM District Chairperson and LC5 Flag Bearer, Denis Nzeirwe Ndyomugyenyi, commended the ghetto youth for their hard work and resilience but noted that they need more financial support and mentorship.

He urged them to continue working closely with the NRM government to achieve sustainable development.
