Rukungiri District Commissions A Renovated Classroom Block at Rwentuha Primary School

RUKUNGIRI -Rukungiri District Local Government has officially commissioned a renovated four-classroom block with an office at Rwentuha Primary School in Buyanja Subcounty, marking a major milestone in the district’s ongoing efforts to improve educational infrastructure.

The construction project, valued at UGX 118 million, was executed by Meciwel Investments Limited and is expected to greatly enhance the learning environment for both students and teachers.

During the commissioning ceremony, Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Stephen Nsubuga expressed gratitude to the contractor for delivering quality work.

He also commended the school administration, led by Headteacher Lydia Batangaire, for their collaboration throughout the construction process.

“I thank Meciwel Investments for fulfilling their promise to deliver on time and with excellent standards,” RDC Nsubuga said.

“This achievement reflects good leadership, government commitment, and the value of unity within the community.”

Nsubuga emphasized the importance of community cooperation and encouraged parents to take an active role in their children’s education and upbringing.

“Let us rise above any form of division. We are all under one God, and our children’s future must remain our shared priority,” he stated.

Headteacher Lydia Batangaire expressed her sincere appreciation to the district leadership, including LCV Chairperson Geoffrey Kyomukama, the RDC, and the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), for their support and partnership.

“This new classroom block will provide a safe and conducive environment for our learners, who have long studied under challenging conditions,” Batangaire said.

“However, more needs to be done. We still lack staff quarters, which affects the punctuality and comfort of our teachers who reside far from the school. We also urgently need more teachers and lightning arrestors to ensure student safety.”

The school currently serves 145 students with a teaching staff of eight primary school teachers and two nursery teachers.

Kais Arinatwe, Director of Meciwel Investments Ltd, applauded the district leadership for their support and reaffirmed the company’s commitment to delivering timely, high-quality infrastructure projects.

“We are proud to contribute to the development of Rukungiri through quality construction,” Arinatwe noted.

“This project stands as a symbol of what government and the private sector can achieve together.”

The new classroom block is expected to reduce congestion and significantly improve the academic experience at Rwentuha Primary School, offering a better and more promising future for its learners.
