South Sudanes refugee found dead in hotel room in Kampala

Authorities in Kampala are investigating the mysterious death of a young South Sudanese woman, identified as Victoria Dawa, who was found dead in her hotel room on Thursday.

According to reports obtained by this website, Victoria had travelled to Kampala about three weeks ago in the company of a man from Eritrea. The two were said to have previously worked together in Bor, Jonglei State, before making the trip to Uganda.

Sources allege that the man booked a hotel room for himself and Victoria, but left about a week later without notifying her. Victoria was later discovered dead in the same room under unclear circumstances.

Police say there were no signs of illness prior to her death, and investigations are now underway to establish the cause and to track down the Eritrean man believed to have been staying with her.

Authorities have called on anyone with relevant information to assist in the ongoing probe.
