RUBANDA -shock and grief have engulfed Kabale and Rubanda Districts following the sudden and untimely death of Nshuti Balaam Kabaasa, the 24-year-old son of Rubanda West Member of Parliament aspirant, Bruce Balaba Kabaasa.
Nshuti was found dead this morning in his bed at their family residence in Mwanjari, Southern Division of Kabale Municipality.
The news has sent shockwaves across the Kigezi sub-region, leaving friends, relatives, and the political fraternity reeling in disbelief.
According to family sources, Nshuti had been actively involved in his father’s campaign in Rubanda West just a day before his passing.
He was in Muko and Kacerere overseeing the distribution of agricultural hoes donated by his father to residents of Bufundi Sub-county. He was also expected to represent his father at several campaign functions scheduled for today.
The Kabaasa family released a heartfelt statement on social media, confirming the tragic loss:
“Dear friends,
It is with a very heavy heart that we, the Kabaasa family, announce the sudden death of our beloved son and friend, Nshuti Balaam Kabaasa.Balaam had traveled to Rubanda to join his father in the campaign for MP Rubanda West.
Unfortunately, we have lost him. He did an amazing job monitoring the delivery of hoes for Bufundi to the store in Kacerere yesterday; he was expected to represent our candidature at several functions today.
We shall truly miss our joyous friend and son Balaam.> May your 24-year-old soul rest in peace, Balaam. Till we meet again.”
Preliminary postmortem results suggest suspected poisoning as the cause of death.
Authorities have launched a full investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the young man’s mysterious demise.
Mourners, including family friends, residents, and political leaders, have been gathering at the family home in Mwanjari to offer condolences and support.
Among those who have visited are Presidential Advisor George William Kanagizi, Rubanda District Woman MP Hon. Prossy Akampurira Mbabazi, Rubanda Woman MP aspirant Jacqueline Katabazi and her husband Col. Emmy Katabazi, and Kabale Municipality Mayor Sentaro Byamugisha.
Nshuti Balaam was widely regarded as a rising figure in the region, recently immersing himself in community service and political mobilization alongside his father.
His sudden death has left a deep void in the hearts of many who knew and admired his passion and dedication.
