Rukungiri- Isaac Tumuhimbise has officially entered the race for Mayor of Rukungiri Municipality after being nominated to contest in the upcoming National Resistance Movement (NRM) party primaries.
Speaking to journalists shortly after his nomination, Tumuhimbise reaffirmed his commitment to addressing the critical issues affecting residents of the municipality.
He pledged to prioritize accountability, improved infrastructure, job creation, and youth-focused skills training initiatives.“Our people deserve better.
It’s time to restore accountability and deliver services that directly impact livelihoods,” Tumuhimbise said, adding that he intends to work closely with the community to find solutions tailored to their needs.
He extended his appreciation to the supporters who accompanied him during the nomination process, calling their presence a sign of unity and belief in change.
Tumuhimbise also emphasized the importance of education and development, promising to advocate for the establishment of higher learning institutions, including universities, in Rukungiri Municipality.
“Bringing universities here will not only create opportunities for our youth but also grow our economy through increased population and demand for services,” he noted.
His entrance into the mayoral race is expected to significantly shift the political dynamics in Rukungiri Municipality, with many residents now closely watching how the campaigns will unfold in the coming weeks.
As the NRM primaries draw nearer, Tumuhimbise’s candidacy is already generating buzz, positioning him as a strong contender in what is shaping up to be a competitive race.
