KABALE -Trinity College Kabale has registered a historic 100 percent pass rate in the 2025 Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) examinations, with all 225 candidates scoring Result One and qualifying for admission to Advanced Level.
The achievement places the school among the top-performing institutions in the Kigezi sub-region and reflects the growing impact of the new competence-based secondary school curriculum.
According to results released by the Uganda National Examinations Board, there was a dramatic national improvement in UCE performance.
The proportion of candidates who failed to qualify for the UCE certificate dropped from 1.9 percent in 2024 to only 0.31 percent in 2025.
Speaking to the press, the school director, Joab Tumwebarize Muhwezi, said Trinity College Kabale presented 225 candidates for the 2025 examinations.“Our candidates scored 98 As, 780 Bs, 1,336 Cs and 35 Ds.
All the students obtained Result One and qualified to join Senior Five,” Muhwezi said.
He noted that the performance marks a significant improvement compared to the previous year when both teachers and learners were still adjusting to the new curriculum.
“When the competence-based curriculum was first introduced, we were still learning how to handle project work and continuous assessment. Last year, we did not register any As in project work,” Muhwezi explained.
“This year, however, we recorded 25 As in project assessment, which shows that both teachers and students have mastered the system.”
He attributed the success to better preparation, improved teaching methods and stronger learner engagement under the new curriculum framework.
“The competence-based system encourages learners to think critically and apply knowledge practically. This has greatly boosted their performance,” he added.
Muhwezi further revealed that the current cut-off points for admission to Senior Five at the school stand at 10 aggregates for boys and 12 aggregates for girls.
Education stakeholders in Kabale have hailed the results as a sign that schools are increasingly adapting to the new curriculum, with Trinity College Kabale emerging as one of the leading examples of excellence in the 2025 UCE examinations.
