Kabale -Uganda Christian University (UCU) has warned graduates, parents, and guests against indecent dressing ahead of its 26th Graduation Ceremony (Part Three), scheduled to take place tomorrow at Bishop Barham University College (BBUC) in Kabale.

The warning was issued by the Deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of Academic Affairs, Rev. Associate Prof. John Kitayimbwa, during a press conference held at the university’s multipurpose hall on Wednesday.

The ceremony will see 353 students graduate from various disciplines 228 males (65%) and 125 females (35%), with six students attaining first-class degrees.

Rev. Prof. Kitayimbwa cautioned that anyone whether graduate, parent, or lecturer who turns up in indecent attire will be denied access to the graduation grounds. He urged all attendees to dress modestly and in a manner that glorifies God.

Meanwhile, Dr. Alice Kyobutungi, the College Principal, attributed the smaller number of graduates this year to the COVID-19 pandemic, which disrupted university enrollment for nearly a year.

She reaffirmed that BBUC continues to offer market-relevant courses designed to equip students with the skills needed to succeed beyond the university.

Dr. Kyobutungi expressed confidence that the graduates will uphold the Christian and moral values imparted to them during their time at the institution, reflecting positively on the university’s image.

The chief guest at tomorrow’s ceremony will be Eng. Reuben Tumwebaze Byaruhanga, Managing Director of Uganda Clays Limited, and the event will be presided over by the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, The Most Rev. Dr. Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu.
