KABALE -Counsel Elvis Twenda has been officially nominated to contest in the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party primaries for the Ndorwa East County parliamentary seat.
The nomination exercise took place at the NRM headquarters in Kampala, marking a key milestone in Twenda’s growing political journey.
The parliamentary hopeful was accompanied by a small but dedicated team of supporters, led by his nominee Hon. Annah Twenda, Chairperson of the NRM Women’s League in Kabale District.
His nomination was seconded by Kyomuhangi Sylvia, Councillor for Katenga in Kaharo Subcounty, and Kirimugisha Benard, a respected elder from Maziba Subcounty.
Speaking to journalists shortly after being cleared, Twenda pledged to run a campaign rooted in integrity, inclusivity, and vision-centered leadership.
He called on the people of Ndorwa East to support his bid, promising to be a unifying force capable of steering the constituency toward meaningful development.”For far too long, Ndorwa East has lagged behind due to the absence of NRM-aligned representation in Parliament. This has cost us valuable opportunities in national programs and resources,” said Twenda. “I am here to offer honest, inclusive leadership that places the needs of our people at the center of all policy and development efforts.”He vowed to prioritize education, infrastructure development, youth empowerment, and improved healthcare services if given the mandate to serve.

Twenda’s candidacy is gaining momentum, with many political observers and residents describing him as a promising new voice capable of reinvigorating NRM’s support in the region.
His nomination sets the stage for a competitive primary race as the party prepares to consolidate its position ahead of the 2026 general elections.
