Nanyang Brenda Lopeyok, a third-year Bachelor of Science in Environmental Management student at Kampala International University, has been crowned Miss Tourism Karamoja 2026/27. She secured the title during a colourful finale held on August 2, 2026.
During her reign, Nanyang plans to champion environmental conservation, focusing on tree planting, climate awareness, and promoting the untapped tourism potential of the Karamoja sub-region.
She edged out strong competition from Awilli Lynn of Abim District and Anyeko Vicky Omara, who finished as first and second runners-up respectively.
The contestants, who underwent an intensive pre-pageant boot camp, impressed judges and audiences alike with their confidence, eloquence, and knowledge of tourism. They also demonstrated a deep commitment to preserving Karamoja’s cultural heritage, while showcasing leadership and advocacy skills developed during their training.
The pageant has been widely praised for highlighting the region’s cultural richness and tourism prospects. Beyond beauty, the event emphasised the role of young women as ambassadors of culture and tourism, positioning Karamoja as an emerging destination in Uganda’s tourism sector.
The newly crowned queens will now join regional winners from across the country as they prepare for the national grand finale set for September 4, 2026, at Kampala Serena Hotel.
