Since its global inception in France in 1982, World Music Day, commonly known as Fête de la Musique has grown into a global phenomenon with Uganda joining the celebration in 2014, and ever since then, the day has been celebrated every June 21st where music lovers come together to honour the universal language of rhythm and melody.
This year’s edition, held at Sheraton Gardens in Kampala, was nothing short of magical as guests were drawn into a vibrant atmosphere that effortlessly blended music, poetry, and cultural exhibitions.
The event was a melting pot of Ugandan and international guests, united by a shared love for the arts.

The evening’s performances were electric as the audience was treated to an eclectic lineup that featured local favorites like Ykee Benda, Zex Bilangi Langi, Ebrahim Soul’o, Blac Queen, Andereya Baguma, Professor Joewi, and the experimental Black Wave Sounds, among others.
Seamlessly switching between his earlier hits and newer releases, he had the crowd on their feet from start to finish, Ykee Benda put up a nostalgic yet refreshing set.
Zex Bilangilangi added a dancehall touch to the event with hits like Parte Yaani, Ratata, Time Yo and Nalinda among others.
Organised by Talent Africa Group, the event was a beautiful reminder of how music can connect people, transcend borders, and celebrate diversity—all in one unforgettable night.
